Alt Image Tags

Alt Image <alt> Tags

What is an Alt image Tag? When you see an image on a webpage, hover your mouse over the image. Does any text appear as a “hint” in a small window beside the image? If so, they are taking advantage of Alt image tags, and so should you.
Using the Alt tag provides you with another opportunity to use your primary keyword(s) or keyword phrases(s) within your content page. Many webmasters miss out on this. But, you need to be careful here. If your webpage is filled with 6 large graphics, adding Alt tags will bump up the overall keyword density of the page, which may not be desirable (see Keyword Density section above). Be sure to include your primary keyword/phrase within the first couple of Alt image tags that appear within your webpage.
